IN GOOD THYME
Yes
IN GOOD THYME
WEST NEWTON, MA
We were asked to open up the first floor of this home to give it a better flow, provide a much needed update to the kitchen, and create a connection between the kitchen and generously sized rear yard for a family who loves to entertain guests. Improving the flow required demolition of walls that held two existing Tudor archways. These features were dear to this family, so we recreated one to define the separation between the kitchen and secondary entry. The curves of the arch were repeated in the texture and pattern of the kitchen backsplash and powder room floor tiles. We repositioned the kitchen to encompass the seldom used dining room, removed an unnecessary hallway for a visual connection from the kitchen to the living room, created a small mudroom style space at the secondary entry, refreshed the powder room, and added a large curving paver patio with access from the new kitchen. An abundance of storage, smart interior cabinet organization, and loads of counter and circulation space make the new and improved kitchen a great place to prepare meals, while cozy finishes, more natural light, and multiple seating areas (including a window seat for the cats and dogs!) make it a welcoming gathering space!
