CAPE COD COTTAGE RENOVATION  DENNIS, MA

The client wanted to transform their rustic 1940's two bedroom, one bathroom cottage into a vacation oasis.

When the family purchased it in 2012 the original windows would not fully close and leaked, the original kitchen had cabinets too shallow for plates and just one small drawer, the original stained pine wainscot was dinged and scuffed, the original homasote ceilings had water stains, the 'updated' bathroom was in disrepair, the exterior had received minimal maintenance, and the front steps were crumbling.  Beach oasis it was not!

To maximize the sense of airy lightness in the space we carefully thought through each detail and relationship of the 600 square foot cottage.  The ceiling of the main room was reframed to allow a fully vaulted space, free of tie beams that would lower the perception of the ceiling.
